Development actors benefit from climate information service course in China
BEIJING, China, 11 May 2017 - PANOS Caribbean and some 30 representatives from organisations across the developing world gathered in China this month for a training programme to boost their knowledge of climate information services.
WMO Fellows graduate from IHE Delft
On 25 April 2017 four WMO fellows graduated from IHE Delft Institute for Water Education. The fellows joined over one hundred MSc students from 43 countries who received their diploma on this day. The graduates are now part of the IHE alumni community that comprises over 15,000 water professionals working and living in more than 160 countries. WMO fellowships supported by the UK Voluntary Co-operation Programme
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Voluntary Co-operation Programme (VCP) provides equipment, services and training to support national meteorological and hydrological services and encourage capacity development in developing countries. As part of this programme, the Met Office, the UK’s national weather and climate service, supports students from developing countries to complete an MSc in Applied Meteorology and Climate with Management at the University of Reading in the UK. WMO fellows in Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology Celebrate World Meteorological Day 2017
The International Meteorological Student Association (IMSA) of NUIST joined the rest of the world in commemorating World Meteorogical Day on 23 March The main theme for this year was “Understanding Clouds”. IMSA together with College of Atmospheric Sciences Graduate Student Union (CASGSU) organized a range of captivating activities as way of creating awareness to the public on the theme for WMO Day.

Kenya Met Department Institute of Meteorological Training and Research (IMTR) Training Modernisation project
Over the past 4 years the Met Office College (MOC) has built a strong collaborative relationship with the Institute for Meteorological Training and Research (IMTR), the equivalent institution within the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD). IMTR is a designated World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) Regional Training Centre (RTC), for English-speaking Africa and as such is expected to provide training that supports the regions National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHS’s).
