The Caribbean Meteorological Organization (CMO) celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Agreement for the Establishment of the CMO, signed on 19 October 1973 in Basseterre, St Kitts, by hosting a webinar entitled "The Early Years of Meteorology in the English-Speaking Caribbean."  The CMO, a specialized institution of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), originated from the British Caribbean Meteorological Service that was established in 1951

October 2023 goes on record as the second hottest October ever experienced in Bahrain since 1902. The mean temperature of the month was 31.7°C which is 1.8°C above the long-term normal for October and this goes on record as the second highest mean temperature for October since 1902. This is the same as in October 2015. Note that the highest mean monthly temperature for October was 32.1°C recorded in 2019. The mean maximum temperature of the month was 35.5°C which is 1.5°C above the long-term normal and this goes on record as the third highest mean maximum temperature for October since 1946. Note that the highest mean monthly maximum temperature for October was 35.9°C recorded in 2019.

The Baiu front stagnated near Japan’s main island of Honshu in early June, and a series of stationary linear mesoscale convective systems hit the Pacific side of eastern and western Japan. Such conditions brought unprecedented 24-hour June rainfall at 167 stations. Record-high temperatures were observed in northern/eastern Japan and elsewhere from mid-July onward. The average temperature for northern Japan in late July was the highest for the region since records began in 1946, and that for eastern Japan was the second highest for the region. The average temperature for the Sea of Japan side of eastern and western Japan in early August was also the highest ever.
